Maternity Session Laura

Maternity

Laura is one of my closest friends, so when she told me she was expecting twins and wanted to do both maternity and newborn photography sessions I was overjoyed! (Insert happy dance here)

When a mother is expecting twins I find it best to do their maternity session a tad sooner than a regular pregnancy. Later in the pregnancy moms are feeling sore and not able to stand as long making the session harder on them. We did Laura’s session around 26 weeks gestation and it was the perfect timing. Her belly was just the right size and she still had lots of energy.

When you arrive at your maternity session we first discuss what the session will entail and then you pick your fabrics for me to make the gowns. Laura wanted to use the very popular red fabric and also make a green gown in addition to the white gown I use every session. Each dress is made on you during your session allowing each one to fit perfectly and I have every colour imaginable to choose from.

During the session I direct you on posing etc and we will change our lighting, dresses and backdrops several times. Laura was great taking direction for posing! Moms are always a tad nervous when starting their session but that passes quickly once we get stared. Brenna (her toddler) was not as into the shoot and took some convincing to get her to join us (which is very normal for toddlers). With perseverance and patience we got her to participate and I think she actually enjoyed herself for most of it 😉

We had so much fun at this session! Another good friend assisted us in the dress tossing and as you can see she did a wonderful job too.

Can’t wait to share their newborn session soon… stay tuned!
